NOTES & Wonderings

The Hornblow family .

Her grandfather & her  great grandfather were both Jeronimo Hornblow was a Malster  son of Jeronimo Hornblow a malster B 16 April 1718 in Mildenhall Wilts.

Jeronimo her grandfather married  Mary Mew in Upton cum Chavley in Buckinghamshire 1st Oct 1743

These families came from places about 40 miles part & it occurs to me, now in 2023, that there is a very slight possibility that  if the families  used the same market town they might have known each other .

CAN I PROVE IT ? WORK IN PROGRESS

Interesting to note that

Rev John said to be born about 1744 in Halstead BUT a paid for search in parish register at Halstead Essex did not find him 1740-1750

HOWEVER Dec 2020 I did find in BARNES on the south banks of the Thames

1st Hornblow entry1744

Reverend John Hornblow son to Jeronimo Hornblow &his wife MaryMew Bb 15 Nov 1744 at St Mary's Barnes in Surrey

Sarah dau of Jeronimo Hornblow & Mary his wife born 22 Feb bap 27 Feb 1745 at St Mary's Barnes Surrey

BARNES, a parish in the western division of the hundred of Brixton in the county of Surrey, about 1 mile from Mortlake, and 5 miles to the S.W. of London. Upton = Slough about 15 miles from Barnes with Halstead is 50 miles from Barnes

after 1750 there were no more Hornblow baptisms in the Barnes register so a reasonable presumption is that they moved to Halstead for some reason - where Jeronimo was recorded as Jeronima which morphed into Jeremiah ?

I think Jeronimo & Jeremiah were one & the same

Jeronimo Hornblow was a malster of Halstead
